The DCC2 is intended to be plug-compatible with the DCC1. There are some hardware differences: * DCC2 occupies the _right_ slot covered by the front panel, while the DCC1 occupies the _left_ slot. * All RJ-45 connectors are rotated 180 degrees. This is an unfortunate side-effect of mounting them on the main PC board. * There is a new connector for Ethernet at the top. _Do not plug TTS or TTC cables in here!_ ---++ Specification and User Guide * [[http://ohm.bu.edu/~hazen/CMS/DCC2Spec_3000_2012-10-09.pdf][Operational Specification]] which describes how the DCC2 works (updated 2012-10-09). * [[http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cms/HCAL/document/CountingHouse/DCC/FormatGuide.pdf][Data Format]] • *NOTE*: HTR details now completely changed due to new compact data format. See [[http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/cms/HCAL/document/CountingHouse/HTR/HTR_index.html][HTR documentation]] for details. * [[http://ohm.bu.edu/~hazen/CMS/DCC_buffering.pdf][DCC Buffering]] and TTS operation * [[DCC2InputDataLink]] – details of low-level link format from HTR to DCC2 ---++ Serial Numbers Each DCC has a unique serial number, which is set by cutting a set of traces on the PCB. These are located near the back of the board and marked "SN0" thru "SN7". SN0 is the lsb, and a cut jumper corresponds to a '1'. To readout the serial number, start *DCC2Tool.exe* as follows:
DCC2Tool.exe caen:0 19
...where the bus:crate and VME slot are as needed. Enter the command =vme/r 0x10=. This will display an 8 digit hex value, where the first 4 digits are the serial number in hex. i.e.:
> vme/r 0x10 > Read 0x20050000 from offset 0x000010
This corresponds to S/N 2005. All boards should be marked with their serial numbers. Prototype boards have serial numbers 2001...200a. Note that though the serial number is read in hex, the convention is to write the number as decimal i.e. "2010" instead of "200a". -- Main.EricHazen - 03 Jan 2010
