To complete the pre-registration procedure for CMS and get a CMS Computing Account, the following should be done:
- The person in charge (Prof. Jim Rohlf for BU CMS) has to initiate the online registration using Pre-Registration Tool (PRT).
- In addition to PRT, Home Institution Declaration Form should be filled out by an authorized representative. (Despina Bokios from the Physics Front Office can fill this form out.)
The most recent version of HID Form (as of October 2018) can be found in this link: http://usersoffice.web.cern.ch/sites/usersoffice.web.cern.ch/files/pdf/Formalities/HomeInstitutionDeclarationforUO.pdf
Useful information about how to fill the HID Form can be found here: http://usersoffice.web.cern.ch/sites/usersoffice.web.cern.ch/files/pdf/Formalities/HIDHowto.pdf
- Finally, Prof. Jim Rohlf can submit the registration form in the Pre Registration Tool, with the completed HID Form and a copy of applicant's passport attached to it.
- Upon the approval of CERN Users Office (typically within one-two business days), an e-mail will be sent to the applicant about the approval. Using the information and links on this e-mail, the applicant can request activation for a CMS Computing Account.
